Fernando DePina, 89, passed into eternity on Saturday April 13, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born on the Island of Brava in the Cape Verde Islands, the son of the late Maria DePina. He immigrated to the United States in 1996 and made his home in the City of Pawtucket, and became a valued member of the Cape Verdean Community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Clarisse DePina of over 50 years, and their nine children. Six sons, Joao DePina, Jaime DePina, David DePina, Jose DePina, Autilio DePina, and Jorge DePina, all of Pawtucket. He is also survived by a son, Adelmar DePina of Cape Verde; three daughters, Maria Ines DePina, Vitoria Santiago, and Maria Fernand DePina, all of Pawtucket, and one sister, Nomeia DePina of Cape Verde.
His funeral will begin at 8:45a.m. on Thursday, April 18th from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket, at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow in North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Avenue, Providence, R.I. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, April 17th from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at the Keefe Funeral Home.
